2009 MAINLAND & HONG KONG CLOSER ECONOMIC PARTNERSHIP ARRANGEMENT - SUPPLEMENT VI TO CEPA
Under Supplement VI, the Mainland will introduce 29 liberalisation measures covering 20 service sectors, ranging from banking, securities, audio-visual, telecommunications to tourism, convention and exhibition, printing and publishing, and legal services. Two new service sectors, i.e. research and development, and rail transport, are also included. The total number of Mainland service sectors covered by CEPA will thus be expanded from 40 to 42. All new liberalisation measures will take effect from 1 October 2009.
Apart from service liberalisation, both sides have also agreed to enhance financial cooperation and take forward the work on mutual recognition of professional qualifications. On the whole, the new measures can help enhance the competitiveness of Hong Kong Service Suppliers in tapping the business potential in the Mainland market. The attached press release and information note provide you with an overview of the new liberalisation and cooperation measures under Supplement VI.
